"I've been juggling for more than half my life, since I was just 11 years old. Aged 16 to 18 I studied performing arts full time,
getting ready to spend
my life on stage.
"In the year 2000 I travelled to my first national juggling festival.
It was amazing! I saw jugglers breaking world records, and I wanted to
do the same. I saw other jugglers performing in front of a thousand
people, and I was inspired to do that too!
"As it happens, it didn't take me too long to reach
these new goals. In 2002 I managed to break my first world record...
passing 18 balls, a feat that hasn't
been surpassed or even matched since.
Later I managed to equal another world record, juggling 12 balls, but by myself this time.
I also broke the official haggis juggling world record,
not just once but twice... ok, maybe sausage juggling doesn't sound so impressive, but it was featured on the Discovery Channel!
"The other goal, to perform at the biggest festivals, that took a bit longer.
I started out at small, regional events... then over the years I was invited to perform
at national events... soon, almost before I knew it, I was
performing for thousands of people at the largest international juggling festivals
around the world.
"The highlights of my performing career so far include... winning the
IJA People's Choice Award in 2004...
hosting three main stage shows at the European Juggling Convention in 2005...
performing with 10 balls and 7 clubs...
but overall I'm most proud of creating my own unique performance style, combining high
level juggling skills with various media including specially recorded music,
video projection, spoken word...
"Now I have a new act with Pola Braendle, mixing live performancing painting with juggling. We are touring
in 2006 in Germany, England, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Austria and Canada. As a solo artist I've a number of other projects that I'm very excited about;
a diabolo act, a bounce juggling routine and a new street show.
"The best part? I know this is just the beginning!"
